Twitter has threatened to sue Meta over its new Threads platform

-

Twitter legal professional Alex Spiro delivered to the CEO of Fb mum or dad firm Meta Platforms (META.O) on Thursday, Twitter has threatened to sue the corporate over its new Threads platform.

By using Instagram’s billions of customers, Meta, which started Threads on Wednesday and has obtained greater than 30 million sign-ups, hopes to compete with Elon Musk’s Twitter.

Spiro charged Meta with recruiting ex-Twitter employees who “had and continue to have access to Twitter’s trade secrets and other highly confidential information,” in keeping with the report.

“Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights, and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information,” Spiro wrote.

Based on Meta consultant Andy Stone, “no one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee — that’s just not a thing.”

A former senior Twitter worker who spoke to Reuters stated that neither senior workers members who joined Meta nor any former workers engaged on Threads are identified.

Mastodon and Bluesky, amongst others, have contested Twitter since Musk took management of the social media platform. However the consumer interface of Threads is sort of just like that of the microblogging service.

Nonetheless, neither key phrase searches nor direct messaging are supported by Threads.

An inquiry for remark from Reuters didn’t obtain a immediate response from Spiro.
