Informal browser-based chess recreation Anichess, which is owned by Animoca Manufacturers and co-developed with chess platform Chess.com and a number of world chess champion Magnus Carlsen, has introduced its first playable.
Launching in two phases, Anichess combines basic chess with magic spells to combine up the meta. The primary model to launch is the PVE mode wherein gamers use magic spells to resolve each day puzzles. They’re rewarded with Orbs of Energy, an in-game asset linked to the sport’s Orbs of Energy NFTs.
At present on Polygon, the NFTs can be found on the market on OpenSea and supply in-game utility similar to unlocking new puzzles with better rewards.
The second part of the rollout will see the launch of the PVP mode in Q1 2024.
Commenting on the launch of the primary part of Anichess, Magnus Carlsen mentioned: “I am excited that Anichess is bringing innovation to chess with spells and strategy gaming elements that provide a refreshing chess experience.”
At the side of the announcement, Animoca Manufacturers’ membership NFT-collection Mocaverse is launching Moca ID missions inside Anichess by means of which customers can earn Moca RP and acquire further Orbs of Energy.
“Anichess revolutionizes the classic royal game by fusing traditional strategy and gameplay with the innovative elements of spellcasting, a fantasy storyline, and Web3 functionality. We are thrilled to partner with Chess.com and to have Magnus Carlsen and other impressive chess talent with us as we pioneer this new dimension of chess,” commented Animoca Manufacturers co-founder and govt chairman Yat Sui.
